Sydney Build Expo - June 2022

Australia's Largest Construction Event For the Architecture & Design Build Industry.

The Luxe Team attended the Sydney Build Expo earlier this month. With over 100 stalls of new and innovative building materials, technologies and solution based products, we all were very informed and enthusiastic with what the future may hold for design and construction.

Connie's experience:

On the 1st & 2nd of June 2022 I was fortunate enough to attend the Sydney Build Expo in Darling Harbour. Upon entering the Exhibition Hall, I was overwhelmed with the number of stalls showcasing the latest materials, services, and equipment in building design.

From tools to tiles the Expo was filled with innovation and excitement. Over the 2-day event the team and myself managed to visit over 50 different stalls and talk to the representatives about products and services that are currently trending on the market.

If I had to pick my personal favourite, it would have to be Curvwood who specialise in Glulam (glued laminated timber). This is when thin layers of timber are glued together to create custom shapes and designs. This product got me excited as I was thinking of all the ways I would be able to apply it when designing whether it’s a curved timber façade or a detailed ceiling feature.

Overall, it was a fantastic, educational experience which opened me up to a variety of new products and services which I’m able to utilise when designing

Mariam's experience:

The 2022 Sydney Build Expo was a two-day event which welcomed all products of design and construction into one arena. The Luxe Building Design Team and I attended the Exhibition and had a very positive experience. It was wonderful to see the advancement of the building realm by attaining the exposure of new building materials, software, wall systems and many more, that can contribute to the overall efficiency and creativity of our work.

My favourite stall was the DCA Facades Australia, where a representative discussed the various façade and cladding systems they offer. This made me very excited to experiment these materials with our future projects.

A fun moment with the team was the LEGO competition we entered. Designing the LEGO sculpture was thoroughly enjoyable, and it was nice to see the how we cohesively worked as a team. It may have seemed like a very mundane exercise – however the support shown by my colleagues was a testament to their characters and our work environment.

All-in-all, the Sydney Build Expo was a great experience, and it was thoroughly rewarding to be apart of. We are all looking forward to visiting the 2023 Expo next year!
